CHECKLIST
Psalm 37:23 NLT The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.
Today’s teaching may sound elementary, yet if you’re going to enjoy life and possess what God says belongs to you, it will be the most profound principle you’ll ever learn. Good airplane pilots don’t rely on their memory to fire up and fly a plane or jet, they go through steps called a checklist.
Flying a plane or jet without a checklist may turn out disastrous. In the same sense, for many, life can turn out disastrous if they have no checklist or moral compass for it.
The best checklist for life is found in God’s Word. There, people can learn the direction for their lives and the steps needed to take to arrive at their destiny successfully.
Psalm 119:105 MSG By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path.
God likes to take things in steps not leaps. He tells you that if you follow Abraham’s steps you’ll end up with the blessings promised to him. We find this in Galatians 3:29 and in the following scripture.
Romans 4:12 KJV And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham...
There is a checklist found in God’s Word that I’ll call: “THE LAW OF POSSESSION”. This checklist for “THE LAW OF POSSESSION” or pattern, is found at the very beginning of the Bible and is seen woven throughout the rest of it.
Recently I had a conversation with someone who stated that everyone had turned on him (this isn’t someone in our congregation). He stated that he saw some Christians that he thought acted other than loving Christians.
I simply said this to him: “Throughout the years, I’ve seen Christians who have never learned a simple lesson in Christianity, and it is this: They haven’t learned to see, believe in or look for the best in every person. Instead, they often look for some fault or the worst in them”. Only God’s love for you and for others can teach you this.
1Corinthians 13:7 AMPC Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
This scripture isn’t “THE LAW OF POSSESSION” but it fits right into it because it basically covers all the steps. If I were you, I would read the entire chapter of 1Corinthians 13 in the Amplified Bible. Then begin a checklist of each scripture to see if you can check each box as fulfilled in your life!
I won’t outline “THE LAW OF POSSESSION” in this email, which is for Sunday, but I do encourage you to go through a checklist.
2Corinthians 13:5 MSG Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it.
As the seed of Abraham, you have been promised a great and enjoyable life, if you follow the steps (Job 36:11—John 10:10). The good news is that Jesus will walk with you every step of the way!
