WHERE IS YOUR FAITH?
Luke 8:22-25 KJV Now it came to pass on a certain day, that He went into a ship with His disciples: and He said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. 23 But as they sailed He fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. 24 And they came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Master, Master, we perish. Then He arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. 25 And He said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for He commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey Him.
Have you ever wondered why Jesus was asleep? Could it be that He was tired? That’s a good reason. Or could it be that His disciples were boring Him? If you want to see Jesus get excited, start saying and doing what His Word says.
God wants you and I to live a Christ-centered life. We can have great music, great worship and nice buildings, and yet not be Christ-centered. I believe many people bore Jesus because they are self-centered and not Christ-centered.
Luke 6:46-48 KJV And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? 47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
The Word of God will always say: “Let us go over unto the other side”! The disciples should have put their faith in what the Word of God said. They should have put their faith in what Jesus (The Word of God) said.
Instead, they were fearful of the storm that was attacking their boat. Are the storms of life attacking your boat (your family or career etc.)? Today Jesus is asking the same question: Where is your Faith?
Is your faith in yourself, your own ability, your job or career? Or is it in Jesus, who can take you to the other side? In the Old Testament there’s the story of Elisha and his servant.
His servant went out in the morning and saw that the Syrian Army had surrounded them. He screamed out in fear.
2Kings 6:17 KJV And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
In life, you will be surrounded by two realities, the natural world and the spiritual world. If you only rely on or depend on the natural realm, you are going to fail.
God wants you to put your eyes on His spiritual provision like His Son Jesus did. When Jesus was surrounded by 5,000 hungry men plus women and children, what did He do?
Luke 9:16 KJV Then He took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, He blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.
Looking to Jesus, the Word and Heaven multiplies your provision, you're healing and calms your storms. If you only look at the pain or the natural, you won’t receive. Again, the Word of God always says: “Let us go over unto the other side".
Notice that Jesus said: "Let us go over". That means He will always be with you (Hebrews 13:5-8). He didn't say let us sneak under the radar to the other side. Deuteronomy 28:13 says you are the head and not the tail. That means that in Christ Jesus you overcome, you go over not under!
Allow The Holy Spirit to anoint your eyes to see. He anoints them when you hear The Word. You’ll have to close your natural eyes (so to speak) in order for God to open your spiritual eyes so you can see the Supernatural Power of The Holy Spirit.
Romans 10:17 ESV So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
